Are FileTools really free?

Yes. Every tool is completely free with no hidden costs, no signup, no premium tier, and no credit card required. We support the site through optional donations and minimal advertising.

What happens to my files?

Files uploaded to our server are processed and then automatically deleted within 1 hour. We never read, copy, share, or use your files for any other purpose. Many tools (calculators, generators, JSON formatter, etc.) run entirely in your browser, so files never leave your device. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.

My file is too large — what can I do?

FileTools currently accepts files up to 20MB. For larger files, try splitting them first with our CSV Splitter or PDF Splitter, then process the chunks individually. If you regularly need to handle larger files, let us know and we'll consider raising the limit.

A tool isn't working — what should I include in my report?

To help us debug quickly, please tell us: which tool, your browser and OS (Chrome on Windows, Safari on iPhone, etc.), the file format and approximate size, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and any error messages you saw. Screenshots help a lot. Don't send the file itself unless we ask — some files are sensitive.

Can I request a new tool?

Absolutely. If there's a file format we don't handle yet or a workflow we could simplify, let us know. We add new tools based on demand — the more people request something, the more likely it gets built. Tell us what you'd use it for so we understand the use case.

Can I exercise my GDPR or CCPA rights through this form?

Yes. Use the contact form or email us directly with your request. Since we don't have user accounts or store personal information beyond temporary server logs, most data requests are straightforward. We aim to respond to all privacy requests within 30 days.
